Dining

OUR FAVES

Flowers of Vietnam

This trendy neighborhood spot in Southwest Detroit aims to capture the spirit of classic Vietnamese dishes such as pho and broken rice. Once a weekends-only pop-up in a coney island, Flowers of Vietnam now sports an attractive bar area with an impressive list of wine, beer, and cocktails. Items such as a caramel chicken wings and whole fried fish are popular, but don’t overlook options like the heaping plates of green papaya salad or the fried salt and pepper prawns.

Our favorites are the caramel chicken wings (A-1), tom rang muo (A-2), and the bap xao (C-5).

Savannah Blue

Savannah Blue's menu offers contemporary northern soul food– fresh ingredients prepared with southern flavors, presented with Detroit style.

Our favorites are the crab cakes, SB catfish served with macaroni and cheese and greens, and the braised oxtail.

San Morello

Located right on Woodward minutes from Campus Martius, San Morello is chef Andrew Carmellini's urban Italian neighborhood restaurant in Downtown Detroit serving authentic, wood-fired dishes, pizzas and house-made pastas using local, seasonal ingredients.

Our favorites are the sheep’s milk ricotta with hot honey & garlic, lamb meat balls, and lamb shank.

Cocktails

Sugar House

The Sugar House is Detroit’s original craft cocktail bar, opening in the fall of 2011 in the historic Corktown neighborhood. In addition to the foundational 101 classics, the Sugar House features a rotating seasonal menu of original house cocktails and one of the deepest back bars in the city. The extensive spirits list is anchored by the many hand picked single barrel bourbons and American whiskies.

Two James

Two James is located in Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, and is the first licensed distillery in Detroit since Prohibition.

Things to Do

Motown Museum

Step into an era of musical magic on your visit to the Motown Museum. Tour Hitsville U.S.A., the birthplace of the Motown Sound. Stand where the Temptations, Four Tops, Miracles and Supremes—and many more of your favorite Motown artists and musicians—recorded their
famous songs.
Learn how Berry Gordy started it all with an $800 loan from his family. You’ll even be invited to sing a few bars of a favorite Motown tune in the legendary Studio A. It’s all here, preserved in time, waiting for you.

Detroit Institute of Arts

The Detroit Institute of Arts, located in Midtown Detroit, Michigan, has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States. With over 100 galleries, it covers 658,000 square feet with a major renovation and expansion project completed in 2007 that added 58,000 square feet.

Detroit Historical Museum

The Detroit Historical Museum's Signature Exhibitions are permanent installations that showcase more than 300 years of our city's rich history. Five new, permanent exhibitions debuted in 2012: the Gallery of Innovation, the Allesee Gallery of Culture, the Kid Rock Music Lab, Legends Plaza, and Detroit: The Arsenal of Democracy. An expanded Doorway to Freedom: Detroit and the Underground Railroad exhibition better showcases this important part of Detroit history.

Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is located in the Cultural Center of the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1965, the museum holds the world's largest permanent exhibit on African-American culture.
